Ghost In The Shell Live Action Movie

One of my all-time favorite manga movie adaptation was no other than Ghsot in the Shell. I never expected to have a shock of how brilliant the movie was back in the day with themes like artificial intelligence, humanoid and memories which can be uploaded to a new body. It was very metaphysical back 20 years ago when the animated feature film was released and they are already talking about the mind can be uploaded to the world wide web.

It was only in recent years with films like Matrix, Chappie, Transcendence, Avatar, Self/less and Avengers Age of Ultron that we see writers exploring these themes which could be too complicated for moviegoers to understand if it’s made 20 years back. The live action version of Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett Johansson as the main cast has been a hot debate among the fans of the popular manga.

We are still unclear whether Scarlett Johansson will reprise the actual role of Major Motoko Kusanagi as it will certainly be funny if some other cast calling her Japanese name. The only way out of this is having another name prior to her being the cyborg which is her true human self. After which she could possibly be kill off and turn into a cyborg under the care of some Japanese corporation, then his name will change to Major Motoko. That’s an easy fix. Note that the movie as in the Wikipedia only mentioned her role as Major and without any specific name.

One thing for sure her hair matches nicely with the character though. I guess we just  have to enjoy a few shots of her and her partner Batou before we can see Major Motoko running down the Hong Kong neon light streets.

It could be a matter of time too whether another masterpiece manga, Akira will have a live action movie.
